Abstract

Starting from diorganodichlorostannanes, novel bis(triorganosilyl)stannanes and -distannanes were prepd. either by 1-pot reactions via Wurtz-type coupling reactions with Mg or Li and triorganochlorostannanes, or by salt elimination reactions from triorganosilyllithium and diorganodichlorostannanes. A convenient and remarkably straightforward method is the oxidative coupling of K stannides with 1,2-dibromoethane. Isolable intermediates and products were characterized by multinuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. To prove the constitution of a distannane, the structure of Ph2MeSiSn(CMe3)2Sn(CMe3)2SiMePh2 was detd. by x-ray crystallog. [on SciFinder(R)]
