Spanning main focuses: vehicle powertrains, acoustics (routing of structure-borne sound and its radiation) of powertrains (cooperation with the Institute for Internal Combustion Engines and Thermodynamics, TU - Graz).
Methods of development: apprenticeship of construction teaches the synthesis of machine parts to complex productst. The classical technologies of creativity and construction methodically maxims are conciliated. Being sure of realizing high product quality within shorter development times simulation technologies and FMEA (Failure Mode And Effect Analysis) as well as Error-Tree-Analysis are teached to meet the requirements of product liability. Testing and proving methodology serves reducing of development periods. Replacement of only mechanically operating machines by reasonable supplementation of mechanics, hydraulics, electrics and electronics to systems. Objects of testing and proving methodologies: - systematical and efficient proving of parts and plants; - improving quality of predication of the behaviour of random sampling to the collectivity of products using statistics and theory of probability. Measurement technics are important components of testing and proving methodologies confirming of assumptions as well as acquirement of data for future applications.
Short Description:
Main activities in development and teaching:
Experimental and theoretical analysis of the operating strengh of complex components (calculation and trial), methods of development, test stand technics (systematical trial of parts and assemblies), gear construction (gear units for vehicles (control gears and automatic transmissions), continously variable transmissions, losses, changing ranges), fluid technics (oil hydraulics and pneumatics), potentials and risks of the reduction of development time, FMEA (Failure Mode And Effect Analysis).
The teaching of machine construction covers the synthesis of machine elements to complex products including construction based methods. To realize high quality of products with shorter development times, technics of simulation and FMEA are discussed.
