Organisation profile

Profile Information

The institute is constantly working on research projects in transport planning emphasizing behaviour based modelling of transport. We focus on GIS-based modelling of transport networks of motorized and non-motorized trips in private and public transport and freight transport. In detailed simulation models we look at urban signal traffic control and interurban traffic management schemes including navigation systems. Traffic flow models are validated using real world data measured with our mobile equipment (vehicle trailer for automatic image sensing systems, Automatic Number Plate Recognition, High-fidelity GPS recordings). Furthermore the institute is conducting research in environmental related traffic issues such as noise and pollution. We conduct numerous experiments with scientists in other fields in our psycho-physical noise laboratory. Simulation and measurements of car related emissions are carried out with partners as well.
