Abstract

In this paper, the dynamic behaviour of a HVDC-fed stand-alone network is investigated. The stand-alone grid is the transmission network of Newfoundland. The focus is put on transient stability, frequency and active power. To manage this task the simulation program PowerFactory from DigSilent is used. Also, the comparison between different reactive power supply options and their behaviour in cases of fault is an important issue in this paper. Here the comparison between static var compensators, synchronous condensers and doubly-fed induction machines is performed.
