The synthesis and structural characterization of three new mixed d10 metal pseudohalide complexes with quinoline-N-oxide, namely [Zn(quinoline-N-oxide)6][Zn(NCS)4] (1), [Zn(quinoline-N-oxide)(μ1,1-N3)2]n (2) and [Cd(μ-quinoline-N-oxide)(μN,S-NCS)2]n (3) are reported. Single crystal structure detn. reveals that 1 consists of isolated octahedral [Zn(quinoline-N-oxide)6]2+ complex cations and tetrahedral [Zn(NCS)4]2- complex anions. Coordination no. 5 around the Zn(II) center is obsd. in the polymeric chains of 2, where azide groups act in the di-μ1,1 bridging mode. Honeycomb-like layers are formed in 3, where octahedral Cd(II) centers are bridged by the μO,O quinoline-N-oxide mols. and μN,S-isothiocyanate anions. The solid state luminescence properties of the title compds. 1-3 are reported. [on SciFinder(R)]
