The main goal of this key research area is the performance improvement of applications due to parallel processing and software/hardware migration. Many specialized computer architectures are developed in context of digital signal processing and simulation. In these applications the algorithms are partitioned and mapped onto multi- processor systems consisting of digital signal processors (multi-DSP). To further increase the performance, low-level functions are implemented in hardware. These functions are executed on (reconfigurable) coprocessors which are mostly implemented in FPGAs.
This research is partly supported by the 'Elite-Programme' of Texas Instruments.
