OscAR - Austrian supply chain for aluminum fuselage components

The reduction in structural weight plays an important role in aircraft efficiency. The family of AlMgSc alloys which has been investigated for some years, offers increased strength by adding sufficient Scandium content and then offers the ideal condition for laser welded fuselage shells. The deep knowledge about the material behaviour in elastic (static) and plastic (forming) regimes is necessary in order to develop parts with superior properties . Part of the OscAR consortium are two well-known Austrian companies, which will get the option to put them in place of aircraft manufacturing industries.
