Research interests

Wilfried Gappmair studied Communications Engineering and Computer Sciences at Graz University of Technology (TUG), Austria, both finished with honors in 1986 and 1991, respectively. In the sequel, he worked on his doctoral thesis and graduated in 1994 with a PhD degree in Engineering Sciences. Since 1987 he participates in numerous national as well as international projects. Currently, he holds the position of an Associate Professor at the TUG Institute of Communication Networks and Satellite Communications. His main interests and research activities focus on communication theory, digital modulation, parameter estimation and synchronization in digital receivers, channel coding, as well as satellite and wireless optical communications. He is author and co-author of about 75 refereed journal and conference papers covering his areas of interest. Dr. Gappmair is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), a Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), and a Member of the Austrian Electrotechnical Association (OVE).
