Research interests

I’m teaching various courses on polymers, surface properties of polymeric materials, biopolymers, biopolymers in medical application, at Graz University of Technology (Austria) as a full Professor. I’m a thesis supervisor at University of Maribor, University of Ljubljana, University of Nova Gorica, Slovenia and TU Graz and University of Graz, Austria.

My research interests are: polysaccharides in bio medical applications, biomaterials, 3D bioprinting and new bioinks development, surface modification and characterisation of biopolymers, biopolymer composites and nanoparticles preparations.

I'm Autor/co-Autor of more then than 1088 units, including 201 scientific peer-reviewed papers and book chapters, more than 50 contributions from lectures I gave as a visiting speaker, as well as more than 500 contributions from scientific conferences, patents and innovations, 20 PhD supervisor positions, etc. Link to full bibliography: http://izumbib.izum.si/bibliografije/Y20190613142729-07814.html

I implemented and coordinated more than 41 research projects/activities (2007-present), such as EU projects: (Horizon 2020, 7th FP, Era.NET, COST, EU, Structural funds), programmes and projects funded by the Slovenian Research Agency (ARRS), activities relating to the development and implementation of the Slovenia and EU higher education and research policy and more research activities funded directly by Slovenian and EU industries.
