The Institute of Navigation performs research, development, and teaching in mathematical and numerical techniques in contemporary geodesy, with emphasis on positioning, navigation, and satellite geodesy. In addition to a wide experience in terrestrial and satellite-based surveying campaigns, techniques, and integrated navigation systems (GPS, GNSS, Loran-C, inertial navigation), it has developed extensive competence in global gravity field recovery based on satellite sensor data, in the solution of large systems of equations, in the solution of general optimization problems, in the statistical analysis of geodata, and in all matters related to geolocation. It has also an extensive experience in the organization and management of scientific research projects and of national and international scientific events.
