Institute of Theoretical and Computational Physics Short Description: The research activities extend from Mathematical Physics over solid state theory to applied research in electrodynamics, plasma physics and radiation physics. Electromagnetic field theory: Antennas, fields in accelerators and counters, in anisotropic and isotropic layers, periodic media, conducting polymers, optical characterization of materials. Theory of high temperature superconductivity. Mathematical Physics: Spectral theory of Schrödinger and Dirac operators. Algebro-Geometric solution of differential and difference-differential equations, noncommutativ geometry. Statistical Mechanics, Transport Theory: Discrete Model Boltzmann equations, Kinetic Theory of particles and photons. Nonlinear Dynamics: Rayleigh-Bénard convection. Global Models. Plasma Physics: Space and Fusion Plasmas, reconnection, cyclotron heating and current drive. Radiation physics: Investigation of the distribution of radioactive isotopes. Simulation of radiation transport by Monte-Carlo programmes.
