Description

The paper is dealing with a concept of Digitalization for Production (Digi4Production) that represents a cost effective solution with highest possible agility in the field of precision machining. The case study is the pilot factory at Graz University of Technology that is planned to produce customized gear boxes for robot joints. The contribution explains the parametric product design, the whole workflow and the production layout of the factory. In addition the importance of sophisticated sensors and sensor networks is pointed out to optimize the production process. Presented examples are a unique temperature sensor and analysing system for milling, electrical power measurement of machine tools and an adaptive controller for grinding that prevents surface overheating.
