Abstract
This paper provides a simple and validated method to calculate for
resonant chain lengths analytically, which are leading to resonance
phenomena at single-fall chain hoists. So called polygon-effect-induced
oscillations cause additional dynamic loads at about 40%. They lead to
unsafe oparational conditions and reduce chain and chain hoists lifetime
dramatically. For the calculation stiffnesses and oscillating masses of
mounting devices (crane beams) and liftin
g gears are considered as well
as the dominating parameters chain stiffness and lifting mass. By
measurement validated simulation results of various chain hoist
configurations are regressed in a sizing calculation scheme that is solvable
by the simple use of a pocket calcul
ator or a convenient calculation
program. Furthermore a PC-Software-Tool is introduced to analyze this
problem comfortably.
