Beschreibung

The understanding of weathering and neo-formation of silicate requires knowledge about the reaction mechanisms and kinetics. In order to obtain the effects of organic components on the weathering of silicates, dissolution experiments are carried out with amino acids (alanine, cysteine, threonine, glycine), carboxylic acids (tartaric acid, citric acid, oxalic acid) and urea. On the other hand recent neo-formation of silicates occurs in terrestrial alkaline lakes which is discussed with respect to the inorganic formation of chert (microcrystalline quartz). New solubility data at elevated temperatures are obtained by dissolution experiments with natural and synthetic magadiite.
