Research output: ThesisMaster's Thesis

Abstract

During the refurbishment of the Murinsel, which began in September 2016, two information terminals with touch displays have been built on the exterior of the artificial island. The intention is to allow visitors to find all kinds of information about touristic attractions and culture-related sites in Graz. The software running on the terminals, as well as its content, is tuned to the needs of the visitors of the Murinsel.

In addition to the requirements for content and usability, there are of course technical requirements for the software. These will be discussed in this paper. The main focus of this paper is design and development of
the software, both technically and its looks. The process of designing the software will be described, how the features of the final version were selected, and why some of the already implemented features were dropped. The software is in use since the re-opening of the Murinsel in February 2017, and has been improved and extended since then.

To be able to classify the impact, a module for statistical analysis of the usage of the information system has been implemented. One chapter of this thesis will explain how the data is collected, and attempt an analysis of general usage as well as which areas the software should focus on in the future.
