The redundancy and fail-safe concept of the OPS-SAT payload processing platform

Research output: Contribution to conferencePaperpeer-review

Abstract

The Institute of Communication Networks and Satellite Communication at Graz University of Technology has developed a high-performance state-of-the-art processing platform for space applications. The processing platform is going to be used as the main payload computer on the OPS-SAT spacecraft from the European Space Agency. Special care was taken on the fail-safety and redundancy design of the processing platform because of its importance for the mission success. Consequently, the processing platform is equipped with various software and hardware failure detection and mitigation mechanisms that are combined with a reliable redundancy concept. The reliability and validity of the implemented concepts was proven by a successful functional and environmental verification campaign.
