Synthesis, crystal structures, spectral and magnetic properties of 1-D polymeric dicyanamido-metal(II) complexes

Abstract

Five new metal(II) dicyanamide (dca) complexes with 4-hydroxymethylpyridine (4-OMP) and 4-methoxypyridine (4-MOP) have been synthesized, [Co(dca)2(4-OMP)2]n (1), [Cu(dca)2(4-OMP)2]n (2), [Cu(dca)2(4-MOP)2]n (3), [Cd(dca)2(4-MOP)2]n (4), [Zn(dca)2(4-MOP)2]n (5) and characterized by IR, UV–Vis spectroscopy and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The isostructural polymeric 1-D complexes feature double µ1,5-bridging dicyanamide ligands and terminal 4-OMP or 4-MOP ligands in trans-conformation around the distorted M(II) octahedra. The magnetic properties of complexes 1 and 2 are reported.
