Abstract

In this paper optical power distribution of free space optical propagation depending on the position of the receiving area is considered. A laser diode in continuous wave mode (cw-mode) defined by total optical emitted power and divergence angle was used for this study. The maximal observed distance between source and receiving area was 10 mm. In addition to the simulations of the received power depending on the receiver's position, measurements were also done for verification. Considerations concerning the power distribution of optical sources are inevitable for calculating link budgets.
