Abstract

This thesis describes the development and construction of a new power control circuit for a wheel chair, which was provided by the Institute of Technical Life Support. The steering is performed by changing the speed of the wheels. Target of the work was to boost the current supply for the motor which was substantially too low when using conventional controllers. Therefore a new modular four-quadrant-controller with a MOSFET H-bridge was developed. Electrical breaking and simultaneous recharging of the accumulator is also possible. A laboratory test bench with two 24V/700W motors was built to verify the function of the four-quadrant-operation.
