Abstract

The aim of the PEF4Buildings project, commissioned by the European Commis- sion (EC), is to examine the applicability of the PEF method (Product Environmental Footprint) to the building level. The PEF method is tested by assessing two office buildings, varying in energy performance, climatic context and construction technology. To assess the cases, the general PEF Guide is used in combination with the PEF Guidance document, relevant draft PEF Category Rules (PEFCRs) developed during the PEF pilot studies, the EN 15804 and EN 15978 standards, and national PCRs and guidelines for the assessment of buildings and building ele- ments. The first project outcomes were presented in July at the "1st Stakeholder Workshop" in Brussels as well as at an additional national workshop in September in Vienna, Austria.
