Abstract
Two different diffusion-open, capillary-active interior insulation systems were applied to the ground floor of a Wilhelminian style building dating from 1850, and
25 humidity and temperature sensors were installed. Over a period of four years, the external climate as well as the internal climate of the ground floor and
basement were measured, and over a period of three years, the humidity as well as the temperature in the affected building components were measured. In the
base zone, which was affected by rising damp, it was possible to measure drying behaviour during the winter months. Material samples were taken to
determine the hygrothermal parameters required for simulations. With the help of two common programs for transient, multidimensional, hygrothermal
simulations, modelling possibilities could be shown. In addition, evaluations were performed with respect to the moisture- and temperature-dependent thermal
conductivity of the existing and renovation materials.
