Abstract

Map-guided automatic analysis of digital satellite images is described. Based on digital map data, areal features are emphasized; recognition of these features consists of collecting all pixels associated with a feature in the image, and then verifying that the set of pixels represents the desired result. It was shown that more pattern recognition or software will produce a more efficient map-guided image analysis system. An example of application of this method to Landsat image for automatic recognition of features of uniform color is given.
