Abstract

Two different intramolecular hydrogen-bonds are formed by 2-aminoethanol, 3-aminopropanol and 4-aminobutanol, both of which lead to cyclic conformations. Results based on ab initio self-consistent field (SCF) calculations for the stronger interaction -N⋯H-O-are presented. The influence of ring size on this interaction is discussed.
