Abstract

This article presents a number of extensions to an existing model based control strategy for biomass furnaces. Shaping filters and sensor models are designed for use by the extended Kalman-Filter, to consider effects such as variations in the fuel decomposition rate. The control-law obtained by means of the exact input output linearization technique is modified, to take disturbances that are not measured but estimated by the Kalman filter into account. Finally, the modifications are verified through experiments on a real furnace.
