Abstract

This article provides an overview of current applications of artificial intelligence (AI) in industrial procurement. A literature search and a survey were carried out. The survey participants evaluated their current situation regarding the use of AI in the procurement industry. The results show that numerous companies recognize the value of investing in AI, regardless of whether they are deployed in their operations. However, resources and information are scarce and not all companies are willing to invest in the research that would be required to develop AI-related software. In order to successfully manage change, purchasers must be adaptable and open to the topic of AI.
