Abstract
This paper presents the process of designing and fabricating a scale model of a free-form pavilion by using parametric modelling and CNC fabrication. The shape of the pavilion is designed, discretised and prepared for fabrication by using the 3D CAD modelling software Rhinoceros, associated with the visual programming application Grasshopper. The scale model is manufactured with a laser cutter and finally assembled manually. The advantages of using parametric modelling and visual programming in combination with digital fabrication for the design and manufacturing process of free-form surfaces are shown. Also, some problems related to discretisation of such surfaces for the two-dimensional fabrication process are discussed.
