Abstract

Amonmg other factors, the dyeability of textiles is a function of structural differences between fibres or between textiles as well as numerous other parameters. The influence of substrate-related differences, e.g. the dyeability of polyester fibres with disperse dyes, can be defined for a given recipe and dyeing process by numerical evaluation of the shade attained. On the basis of various color differences, which depend on the difference in the substrate alone, a correlation can be found which can be of great use in both classic as well as computer aided recipe formulation. It thus becomes permissable to prepare dyeing recipes more rapidly with new knowledge and a considerably smaller data basis.
