Abstract
ears ago Mozzhukhin developed a model for the determination of refraction effects. Since then various applications were reported in a series of publications. Here the Mozzhukhin model will be critically analysed
and its flaws will be discussed. Two alternative models will be presented: (1) application of the Obukhov length, (2) free convection. This paper should incite the discussion about the topic of refraction modelling.
