Abstract

The device has an electrode arrangement (EAO) arranged in a car seat. The electrode arrangement includes two electrodes (S, E), which are arranged in a coplanar manner and are immovable against each other. The electrodes include electrode surfaces, which face an object (OBJ) i.e. person, to be detected and together lie at a distance, such that approach of the object in a close influence area of the electrode arrangement leads to acceptance of measured current, which is measured and output by a measurement and evaluation device (MAE) in the presence of the object.
