Abstract

A software for the design of individually optimized profiles of the process parameters during hemodialysis has been developed. With this program the required profiles of the ultrafiltration rate and of different solute concentrations in the dialysate are calculated such that the desired time courses of the blood solute concentrations in the patient are attained as closely as possible. The algorithms are based on an individually identifiable patient model and a standard optimization routine.
