Abstract

The ongoing controversial discussion about the network expansion projects at the highest voltage level, in Austria and also in Germany, evokes the quest for alternatives to high voltage overhead lines. Citizen initiatives and environmental organizations promote high voltage underground cables as an alternative. Before starting a project responsible decision-makers have to answer questions concerning the implications of high voltage cable systems in terms of resistive and inductive interference, for the acceptance of lines by the population. A reliable tool for the prediction of the expected interference values represents the proposed model which is based on the principle of the chain conductor
