Abstract
This artist portfolio builds on a performative investigation of Gruinard Island, Scotland, taken place in 2018. Having served as a testing site for biological agents during World War II, the island’s soil and atmosphere remained a lethal environment for humans and non-humans over decades. The affirmative encounter with this specific architectural condition, building on
Bracha Ettinger’s “Matrixial Theory”, enables to depart most sensitively into the ambiguous strata of our planet. In this venture, architecture unfolds its human, non-human, trans-human, and unknown entanglements, and motivates a co-emerging and proto-ethic thought amidst the present ecological crisis.
