Description
The Walzenbauernbrücke near Krieglach is a steel railway bridge with open deck, erected in the year 1960. At the main girders of the bridge fatigue cracks were detected. Within the project the fatigue damage is analysed in detail and the remaining fatigue life is calculated, based on a fracture mechanics approach. In addition stress measurements and material tests are planned and analysed. Required provisions are prepared, to keep the railway bridge in service.
