Description

Wireless communication has become an important component of our daily lives. Concomitantly, a significant increase of the data to be transferred accordingly amounts of powerful mobile transmission channels is required. In this research project we want to meet these requirements by examining filter in mm-wave frequency range, which can be integrated into a circuit board. In order for this filters to be used, they must have a low insertion loss, have small size and be adaptable. The result of the research activity should be an adjustable, quasi-elliptic filter with small losses for the mm-wave frequency range and can be prepared in modern PCB production technologies. In order to achieve this goal are first of three important basic structures realized: planar filter with low insertion loss, quasi-elliptic filter and adjustable resonators. Through comprehensive characterization of prototypes of these three basic structures we gain experience on the theoretical and technological limitations. Using this experience, the basic structures in two steps are combined into one comprehensive style. Basic research must therefore be carried out in the design of mm-wave filters as well as in the practical implementation within a circuit board.
