Description

Many experimental and computational investigations in the last years have shown the strong influence of unsteady flow phenomena on the efficiency of turbomachinery flow. Especially the interaction between stationary and rotating blading is essential for the improvement of future turbomachinery bladings. Therefore, in this working area an in-house three-dimensional CFD code is modified to allow the calculation of turbomachinery stage flow for an arbitrary number of stator and rotor blades by applying phase shifting at the periodic boundaries. This code is then applied to study unsteady flow processes as they are measured in the transonic test turbine of the institute.
