Description

The implementation of transport and spatial planning schemes is based on decisions of transport policy. The implementation of transport and spatial planning schemes is based on decisions of transport policy. Advanced decision support systems based on technology oriented planning methods will improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the planning process. Several obstacles are currently hindering the introduction of state-of-the-art planning methods in daily practice. Austria initiatives on introducing Geographical Information Systems within public agencies, the eGovernment processes and the structured listings of new technologies in the traffic telematics framework are well acknowledged within the international scientific community. These assets have to be incorporated within the transport and spatial planning process. Guidelines based on TechnoVeP and the ongoing study Holodeck will be produced integrating spatial and transport planning based on new transport technologies.
