Silent Timber Build - WoodWisdomNet Project - Silent Timber Build for the European Market

Wood, as a renewable resource, is increasingly used in Europe as a material for multi-storey buildings. Besides, manifold building systems have been developed in different regions of Europe. In contrast to solid building materials, e.g. ferroconcrete, for sound reduction no normative assessment systems in Europe are valid in general, and also the calculation models are still very specific and incomplete. For a more common use and an economical production of sustainable wood constructions, it is necessary to group the diversity of European construction systems and to develop shared assessment tools, especially for sound insulation. The targets of this research project are: to have typical european building systems exemplary under consideration, to crystallize similarities from acoustic point of view, to adapt existing calculation systems to these, and to display the new expertise, as a decision support in timber building - in terms of the future sound reductions are dued by European Countries - in an online platform named as European Timber Sound Insulation Atlas.
