Signal coordination Graz: pollution minimising traffic control

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

Measures to improve the "Green Wave" in Graz are planned due implementing the Clean Air program of Styria 2011. The amount of fuel consumption, NOx and particulate matters from motorized vehicles depends on the number of brake and acceleration processes. Therefore coordination of signalized arterials ("Green Wave") offers the opportunity to decrease fuel consumption and emissions by reducing the number of stops and by harmonizing the driving cycles. On the basis of high-resolution GPS measurement runs the operation of the renewed signal control was analysed and evaluated.
