Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

The driving force behind this work is to increase the use of aluminum in the construction of automobile bodies. To insure that the vehicle remains lightweight, robust and safe, high-strength aluminum alloys must be utilized. However, these alloys have a lower forming potential. Significantly higher degrees of deformation can be realized by thermal treatment of the semi-finished products or components before, during or after the process has taken place. The aim of the project SHT6xxx is to obtain basic knowledge for needed process parameters in the shock heat treatment process to ensure an efficient design of the process. A combination between experiments and numerical simulation will be used to achieve the project goal.
