SF6-freies Prüfen - Avoid SF6 at electrical quality tests

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

The increased customer requirements on the one hand and the development of new products on the other hand require a quality verification of Gießharzbauteile. A very important part in this process is the quality check of the electrical quality of the finished resin products in the form of a partial discharge (PD) - measurement. Currently this check is carried out under an inert gas atmosphere using sulfur hexafluoride (SF6), which is required to suppress external interference and electrical predischarges and rollovers.

The shielding gas used SF6 has excellent insulation properties, but falls due to its high CO2 equivalent under the group of so-called greenhouse gases (Kyoto Protocol), their use is allowed only under strict conditions. To get away from the test method currently used, the company GIPRO GmbH is now at the Institute approached possible alternatives to SF6 and the test method used to investigate in detail.
