Seeds microbiome - BioMarker to assess the microbiome in oilseed rape seeds

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

One of the most important future challenges is to meet the societal demands for durable and sustainable crop production with reduced use of pesticides and finite mineral fertilizers. The microbiome of plants and soils contribute to plant health and to global nutrient cycling processes, which are indispensable for the healthy functioning of the ecosystems. The microbiomes have been predicted to become one of the most important tools for plant protection and nutrition. Due to the progress in detection methods, we have now the possibility to detect biomarker for diversity, healthy seed or pathogens by applying next generation sequencing methods.
