Hotflex II - Reversible high-temperature fuel cells for integration into the fuell power plant Mellach

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

The objective of the project is to set up and commission a combined fuel cell electrolysis module, also called RSOC module, at the Mellach-Werndorf location. With this it is possible to produce both pure hydrogen (electrolysis operation), as well as electricity (fuel cell area). The research into the use of reversible SOC systems in power plant operation, the production of green hydrogen (conversion of excess green electricity into storable energy form), as well as the demonstration, the suitability as an emergency power supply unit through uninterrupted switching to the natural gas operated SOFC operation are under the project examined in detail.
