Reactive gas cleaning

Project: Research area

Project Details

Description

During the combustion (waste, biomass or coal) SO2 and HCl are formed. A new dry gas cleaning process operates at low temperatures and it is based on a calcium sorbent. Parameter studies are conducted by means of a pilot plant to determine the possible range of operation. Moreover the parameters are investigated that have an influence on the removal efficiency. The reactor is operated as a dilute circulating fluidized bed reactor where liquid water is injected. This reactor is mathematically simulated in all three domains based on the concept of Euler/Euler/Lagrange. The residence time distribution of the sorbent is an essential parameter for the reaction progress which is also mathematically simulated for the entire system. Moreover the influence of chloride on the reaction of sulfur dioxide with calcium hydroxide is investigated in laboratory by means of a thermogravimetric analyzer and an lutrasonic levitator.
