Project Details

Description

The project QualiSign has been funded by the European Commission, Directorate General Enterprise (DG Enterprise) under the Information Society Initiative for Standardisation (ISIS). The main objective of QualiSign has been to investigate advanced electronic signatures as defined by the European Electronic Signature Directive 1999/93/EC. In particular the signature-creation process has been of interest, where QualiSign aimed to survey the technological and legal environment of electronic signatures, to carry out an assessment of security-relevant signature functions, and to implement a prototype signature-creation demonstrator employing a commodity hardware and software platform. Continuous liaison with and contribution to standardisation activities, in particular the European Electronic Signature Standardization Initiative (EESSI), has been an integral part of the QualiSign objectives.
