The purpose of this project is to evaluate the performance of veneer-based pressed UHPP profiles for structural use with special focus on mechanical properties (UHPP = Ultra High Performance Plywood). The study comprises three work packages: (i) determination of selected strength and stiffness parameters considering single veneers and veneer composites made of beech with defined set-up (grain direction and veneer thickness), (ii) shape definition and optimization by numerical methods and additional tests and (iii) design and manufacture of press tools, production of optimized trapezoidal UHPP-element and verification of its performance by experimental tests.
