HEAt aims to develop a comprehensive system to identify traffic states on the Austrian motorway network more precisely as the current state-of-the-art. For this purpose, the quality of existing sensors for traffic state detection are analyzed and new sensors will be added. As part of a field trial, the existing sensors in HEAt will be supplemented by Bluetooth sensors and innovative thermal imaging cameras with integrated WLAN tracking and V2X communication. All sensor data is recorded in a database to perform real-time evaluations and to determine traffic parameters. The data analysis uses state-of-the-art artificial intelligence and deep learning techniques.
