Opt Wärmeüberg a gekühl Motortei - Optimisation of heat transfer in the cooling circuit of internal combustion engines with simultaneous drag reduction in the coolant flow

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

In this project the subcooled flow boiling in the cooling circuit of internal combustion engines is investigated in order to optimise the cooling power. The bubble dynamics in the near wall region plays an important role in the boiling heat transfer. The present work attempts to increase the boiling heat transfer rate associated with the motion of the bubbles by adding an appropriate surfactant to the coolant. A realistic model of the boiling heat transfer is to be developed as well.
