Description

The study of properties, performance and complexity of number-theoretic algorithms is a classical and fascinating topic in pure mathematics. In addition, number-theoretic algorithms have recently become of growing importance in various branches of applied mathematics, as for example in cryptology, simulation, high-dimensional numerical integration, and many others more. The investigation of number-theoretic algorithms has a long tradition within the Austrian mathematical community. This Joint Research Programme combines the Austrian research groups working on number-theoretic algorithms and their applications. For many years the members of this FSP have been working on the generation, the analysis and the application of number-theoretic algorithms with great success.
