Novel wood-flour reinforced polylactide-based biocomposites

The aim of the proposed bilateral project is about chemical modifications of wood fibers/fillers for PLA biocomposites. The outputs will be new information about possibilities of chemical modifications for wood fibers/fillers and effects on the mechanical and thermal properties of PLA-based composites. The effect of PLA morphology on material properties will be another aspect of the proposed research. The received PLA/wood composites are have potentials as biodegradable hard packaging materials, where transparency is not required.
