MUT2030 - assembly system 2030

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

The company currently opeartes sites in Frohnleiten (plant 3 and corporate headquarters), Ljutomer in Slovenia (plant 1 and plant 2), and Oelde-Keitlinghausen in Germany (plant 4). Currently, in plant 1 in Ljutomer (SLO), parts required for environmental technology products as well as agricultural technology products are manufactured. Subsequently, (pre-)assembly of the products takes place in plants 2 (SLO), 3 (AT) and 4 (DE) which leads to high throughput times. Within the scope of the planned project, a line assembly system for the products of environmental technology is to be planned based on the strategic goals of the partner company for the year 2030. First, based on a current state analysis, the planning of an ideal system (through load balancing of the existing assembly workstations) for the selected products is carried out without considering existing network limitations. Based on this, different alternatives for the design of the assembly areas are created, taking especially the critical assembly processes into account. A dimensioning of necessary assembly areas as well as the required number of employees is also carried out. Finally, the assembly network is planned and a transparent comparison of alternative assembly network variants is made, considering relevant operational performance indicators (e.g. lead times) and the assembly capacities of the network.
